'Heathers' TV Series Officially Picked Up by TV Land

Heathers is officially a go!

TV Land has picked up the 1988 cult classic's TV reboot to series, the network announced on Friday at the Television Critics Association press day in Pasadena, California.

The new series, the first hour-long show to hit TV Land, will premiere with a 10-episode first season this fall. Under the Dome's Grace Victoria Cox will play heroine Veronica Sawyer in the modern-day adaptation, which also stars James Scully as J.D., Melanie Field as Heather Chandler, Brendan Scannell as Heather Duke, and Jasmine Mathews as Heather McNamara.

The original film followed Veronica (Winona Ryder) and J.D.'s (Christian Slater) battle against their school's social order, specifically three popular girls all named Heather, and ended with murders staged to appear as suicide.

ET confirmed that the original Heather Duke, Shannen Doherty, had joined the TV Land pilot in November, as a "pivotal, unnamed character," and she later teased her appearance on Instagram.
