HONG KONG — Indian film producer Sudhakar Bokade died on Sunday (July 7) of a heart attack, having been admitted to hospital a day earlier.
Best known for 1990s hits “Saajan” (with stars Madhuri Dixit, Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt) and “Prahaar” through his Divya Films International, Bokade was busily readying a comeback after a decade-long absence from the movies.
He was in preparation for a new film to shoot this month in Fiji and Malaysia starring Rajeev Khandelwal and to be directed by Kajal Naskar.
Anupam Kher tweeted: “Shocked & Saddened to know about sudden Death of my producer Sudhakar Bokade. We were to start shooting from 13th. He was a Good man. RIP.” Actress Nisha Aggarwal added “Extremely shocked n saddend 2 hear abt d sudden death of my producer Mr.Sudhakar Bokade! We were 2 start shooting on the 17th. R.I.P”
Bokade’s “Saajan” was also set to be remade by the original’s director Lawrence D’Souza.
