HBO Europe said Monday that it has restructured its senior original production team and promoted three executive producers to vp posts as it continues to push into originals in Scandinavia and Spain.
"The promotions recognize their achievements in drama series and documentaries and create wider areas of responsibility for the executive producers," it said.
HBO Europe has focused on original dramas, miniseries and documentaries.
In the reorganization, HBO Europe elevated Johnathan Young to vp original programming and production, HBO Central Europe. He assumes responsibility for the company's teams in Warsaw, Prague, Budapest and Bucharest.
Steve Matthews becomes vp and executive producer, drama development at HBO Europe, with a brief covering Central Europe, the Nordics and Spain.
And Hanka Kastelicova was promoted to the role of vp and executive producer, documentaries, with the company lauding "the wide-ranging success of HBO Europe's documentary output under her leadership."
All three report directly to Antony Root, executive vp original programming and production, HBO Europe. "These promotions recognize our senior team's outstanding achievements over the last few years," he said. "The original productions they have overseen have been successful with local audiences, sold internationally, selected for major festivals and have received many awards."
He added: "We are immensely proud of our programming achievements and that HBO Europe series and documentaries are now being seen and recognized internationally. This has only been made possible by the exceptional quality of our production executives. We look forward to continued success in central and eastern Europe and to building our original programming presence in the Nordic region and Spain."
