LONDON – The Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton starrer Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D will get the Imax treatment in the U.K.
The giant-screen movie theater operator has teamed with Paramount Pictures to digitally remaster the movie into its Imax 3D format for release beginning Wednesday.
The movie updates the classic Grimm fairy tale and details the story of Hansel and Gretel as vigilantes who hunt down and kill witches who end up hunted by their past.
"We're excited to partner with Paramount Pictures to bring this classic with a modern, edgy twist to life in Imac," said Greg Foster, chairman and president of Imax Filmed Entertainment.
The movie will roll out in 19 theaters throughout the U.K. and Ireland.
Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D is written and directed by Tommy Wirkola and produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay of Gary Sanchez Productions, along with Kevin Messick and Beau Flynn.
