Gaumont Animation, American Greetings Team on ‘Herself The Elf’

Gaumont Animation and American Greetings Entertainment (AGE) and teaming up to co-develop, co-produce and co-distribute an animated series based on the 1980’s girls’ brand “Herself The Elf.”

AGE and Gaumont Animation will split international sales of the 52-episode show and will have a first-look option to produce more episodes of the series. As part of the deal, AGE will also keep ownership of the IP.

“Herself The Elf” is a beautiful, high-concept, character-driven property to which we can both contribute creative magic that will result in something extraordinary,” said Nicolas Atlan, Gaumont Animation president.

Sean Gorman, president of AGE, said his company had an “unparalleled track record in transforming retro brands into modern icons that are both relevant for and in demand by today’s kids.”

“From our vantage point, Gaumont Animation is the perfect partner to bring our all-new vision of ‘Herself The Elf’ to life with a fantastic animated series to serve as the foundation of an incredibly competitive girls’ brand,” added Gorman.

AGE previously re-launched “The Care Bears,” “Madballs” and “Strawberry Shortcake.”

Prior to Mipcom, Gaumont Animation announced the staffing of its Paris office with Marc Dhrami joining the outfit as head of operations and Gaëlle Guiny as director of animated series development.

Based in Paris, the newly-appointed pair will report to Nicolas Atlan, Gaumont Animation president, and will oversee the development and production of Gaumont’s animated series in the French office.
