Peace and praise. French Montana had nothing but kind words about his ex-girlfriend Khloe Kardashian on Tuesday, Oct. 20, for taking care of her estranged husband, Lamar Odom, as he continues to recover after being hospitalized a week ago.
"It's a beautiful thing what she's doing," the rapper, 30, told the New York Daily News at the Tidal X: 10/20 concert in Brooklyn, NYC, where he performed alongside DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, and Meek Mill. "I feel like every woman should do that."
Montana elaborated to the paper that Kardashian, 31, and Odom, 35, have history. "I feel like once somebody's going through a critical condition, I feel like people should step up to the plate to help," he noted. "Once upon a time they had a real relationship when they was married, they still married."
Odom was found unconscious last Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Love Ranch South, a legal brothel in Pahrump, Nev. He remained unconscious for nearly 72 hours before finally opening his eyes on Friday. On Monday, Oct. 19, he was transported via helicopter from Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in L.A. — with Kardashian by his side.
As previously reported by Us Weekly, Kardashian has barely left her estranged husband's bedside, and was legally responsible for making medical decisions pertaining to the former NBA star while he was unconscious. Us also confirmed on Tuesday that the reality star has put her relationship with her current boyfriend, James Harden, on hold as she tends to Odom's full recovery.
The KUWTK star first filed for divorce from Odom in December 2013, and rebounded with French Montana that spring. The two dated on and off from April 2014 through the end of the year, even spending their summer together in the Hamptons while Kardashian filmed her spinoff show, Kourtney & Khloe Take the Hamptons, with her big sister Kourtney Kardashian and Kourtney's now-ex Scott Disick.
Asked by the NYDN at the Tidal event whether he's reached out to Khloe since Odom was hospitalized last week, the rapper said he hadn't. French, however, had a friendly run-in at the event with Khloe's younger half-sister Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
Meanwhile, Khloe broke her silence on Tuesday with an official statement released on her website. "The past week has been incredibly difficult," the star wrote on Oct. 20. "I am so thankful to family, friends, and fans, who have sent nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar. I also want to take a moment to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital, including the amazing doctors and nurses for their kindness and diligent work. Under their amazing care, incredible strides have been made. You can never be prepared for an experience like this, but without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure. Thank you for your continued support. God is great!!!"
As exclusively reported by Us later that day, Odom's condition has significantly improved, but he still has a long journey towards recovery ahead. "He's still really, really sick," a source told Us. "There are a million things they're doing to him still. He's not doing well. He's talking a little bit, but not full sentences."
