Fox News to Air Donald Trump Special Hosted by TMZ’s Harvey Levin
Fox News will air an interview special with Donald Trump focusing not on politics, but on memorabilia in his home. “OBJECTified: Donald Trump,” hosted by TMZ founder Harvey Levin, will premiere Nov. 18 on Fox News Channel.
The interview, conducted on Sept. 15 before Trump’s election as president, explains the stories behind various objects in his home — trophies, photographs, and other keepsakes — and their significance to his life. Fox News promises the special will feature a side of Trump that isn’t usually seen.
The surprise election of Trump as president has driven big ratings for Fox News and other news organizations. The week of the election, from Monday through Sunday, was the most-watched in the network’s history. Fox News is also not alone in putting forth softer focus coverage of the soon-to-be Commander-in-Chief: “OBJECTified: Donald Trump” follows close on the heels of other portraits of the president-elect that critics have denounced as overly soft, including People magazine’s Nov. 21 cover story.
Trump has also come under fire for naming former Breitbart News chief Stephen Bannon his chief strategist. Bannon oversaw Breitbart News as it became a destination for white nationalist and misogynist readers. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) denounced the move this week in both a scathing statement and speech and warned against normalizing such appointments.
“Every news piece that breathlessly obsesses over inauguration preparations compounds their fear by normalizing a man who has threatened to tear families apart, who has bragged about sexually assaulting women and who has directed crowds of thousands to intimidate reporters and assault African Americans,” Reid’s statement read. “Their fear is legitimate and we must refuse to let it fall through the cracks between the fluff pieces.”
