While bright colors and intricate embellishments dominated the Emmys 2015 red carpet, the afterparty styles stuck to a monochromatic palette. But the effect was anything but basic: Lady Gaga, Jennifer Morrison, and Katharine McPhee wore unexpected takes on black and white with interesting cuts, prints, and pairings at the Emmys afterparties on Sunday, Sept. 20, in Los Angeles.
Lady Gaga changed from her sultry, fitted black gown by Brandon Maxwell into a dramatic all-white gown for Fox's soiree and later hit up HBO's bash in the same getup. The American Horror Story: Hotel actress, 29, accessorized the voluminous ensemble with Lorraine Schwartz sparkling jewels and Brian Atwood sandals, and changed her bob to an elegant low chignon updo for the second look.
Sarah Hyland beat the sweltering L.A. heat with her second frock, a '60s-inspired sheath dress with a bow halter neckline by KaufmanFranco at the Fox Emmys afterparty. The leggy look showed off her toned stems and allowed her black heels to have a red carpet moment. Meanwhile, her Modern Family costar Ariel Winter switched into a black beaded gown by Lorena Sarbu to hit the same afterparty with boyfriend Laurent Claude Gaudette and paired her sophisticated ensemble with a black snakeskin clutch and silver baubles.
Opting for the same refined style that ruled the night, Emma Roberts walked the HBO afterparty carpet in a vampy, flapper-style black spaghetti strap dress. She kept her hair swept to one side in loose, fingerweave-inspired waves and accessorized with a fur-lined black clutch by Emm Kuo. Another celeb who went dramatic in an all-black look was Katharine McPhee. The Smash alum, 31, opted for a flattering T-strap jumpsuit by Wai Ming for the HBO 2015 Emmys Afterparty and added a little more attitude with a gold open-necked choker by Carbon & Hyde.
Jennifer Morrison also elected to wear pants instead of a dress for the HBO after-Emmys get-together. But the Once Upon a Time star, 36, added flair with an asymmetrical one-shoulder top that let her fit stomach peek through by Narciso Rodriguez. She wore her hair in a teased updo with a skinny black headband and also paired the outfit with a color-blocked clutch and black pumps. Another celeb who rocked the contrasting color scheme was The Office alum Jenna Fischer. The 41-year-old actress chose a printed take on the trend in a floral embroidered strapless dress and completed her style with black peep-toe heels.
