Ratings: Election Night Draws 71 Mil, On Par With Obama's Historic 2008 Win

A total audience of at least 71.4 million people tuned in for Tuesday night’s marathon presidential election coverage, across the four broadcast networks plus Fox News, CNN and other cable outlets, our sister site Deadline reports.

That is on par with the audience that watched President Barack Obama’s first presidential election win in 2008, and up from the 66.8 million who tuned in for Obama’s 2012 victory over former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

Of that haul, 34.8 million came from the Big 4, led by NBC’s 12 million. ABC followed with 9.7 mil, while CBS and Fox did 8.8 mil and 4.3 mil, respectively.
