Dimension Acquires Horror Pic ‘Pest’

Dimension Films has acquired U.S. rights to horror pic “Pest” from IM Global and low-budget horror shingle Blumhouse Prods.

IM Global’s genre division Octane will fully finance the project, which Blumhouse’s Jason Blum will produce. Blumhouse International, which has a worldwide distribution and servicing deal with IM Global, will oversee foreign sales.

Based on an original Black List script by Barbara Marshall, “Pest” centers around a teen who documents her family’s new life after a deadly virus forces them all into quarantine.

“House at the End of the Street” helmer Mark Tonderai will direct the project while IM Global CEO Stuart Ford, Charles Layton and Matt Kaplan will exec produce.

The deal was negotiated by Jason Blum, Weinstein Co. COO David Glasser on behalf of Dimension alongside EVP business/legal affairs and acquisitions Michal Steinberg, and IM Global SVP of business affairs Florence Larsonneur.
