Was ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Shooting Inspired By A Batman Comic Book?

There are eery similarities between an issue of a Batman comic book and the tragic events in Colorado. Could one have inspired the other?

When James Holmes told police, after committing the largest mass shooting in U.S. history, that he was dressed as the Joker because he was the enemy of Batman, it stood to reason that he was knowledgeable of the Batman story.

If James was an ardent fan of the Batman comic book series, perhaps he knew about the second issue of The Dark Knight Returns, written by Frank Miller. In this issue, a gunman opens fire in a theater and kills three people.

While James’ motives are unclear at this time, the similarities between the two events, combined with the similarities of the name of both the film and the comic book, are spooky.
