Corey Stoll To Battle Vampire Strain in FX Pilot From Guillermo Del Toro, Carlton Cuse
House of Cards breakout Corey Stoll has landed the lead in FX’s vampire virus pilot The Strain.
The well-pedigreed, high-concept thriller is directed by Guillermo del Toro (the Hellboy films, Pan’s Labyrinth), who also co-wrote the script with Chuck Hogan (The Town), and exec-produced by Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel).
Stoll will star as Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of a Center for Disease Control team in New York City that is tasked with investigating a mysterious viral outbreak with the hallmarks of an ancient, evil strain of vampirism. A war for the fate of humanity develops as the epidemic spreads.

Hogan and del Toro co-authored the books on which The Strain is based. Cuse will serve as showrunner if the pilot is ordered to series.
In addition to the Netflix original House of Cards, Stoll’s TV credits include Law & Order: LA and NCIS.
