The Coca-Cola Company's 'Surge' Comeback Causes Social Media Stir
Fans of the 1990s got a pleasant surprise last week when The Coca-Cola Company (NASDAQ: KO) brought back a citrus-flavored soda named Surge.
It didn’t go unnoticed: The entirety of the limited supply sold out on Amazon within hours and was selling later on eBay for much higher prices.
The catch here is that the product was brought back purely by customer demand, and Coke relied almost exclusively on social and digital media -- not traditional forms of advertising like television ads and billboards.
Understandably, Surge's renaissance had a major impact on Twitter.
