CNN Announces Premiere Date of 'The Lead with Jake Tapper'

"The Lead with Jake Tapper," the newest addition to CNN's line-up, will premiere on March 18 in its regular 4 p.m. time slot.

According to the network's Wednesday announcement, the one-hour program will feature the former ABC News senior White House correspondent examining "stories across a wide range of topics that demonstrate his own curiosities and interests."

The new show will incorporate online responses to "the reporting of stories that are part of the national consciousness."

Tapper was tapped to join CNN last December. He was Jeff Zucker's first major hire as the network's new head.

The introduction of "The Lead" will cut down Wolf Blitzer's "The Situation Room" by one hour, making it two hours long instead of three.
