Cat Deeley makes her lead actress debut on the new Hulu series, “Deadbeat,” premiering Wednesday, and she gave TheWrap inside scoop on how shooting the comedy compares to her regular hosting gig at “So You Think You Can Dance.”
The Emmy-nominated host of Fox's veteran competition series said the pace of shooting a single-camera comedy series was totally different than the interactive, immediate feedback of live hosting.
“In New York, when I was shooting the ‘Deadbeat’ series, it was like — sometimes you'd sit around for six hours before you even start,” Deeley said. “So, the process is very, very, very different. Equally enjoyable, but very different. And I had to get my head used to that.”
“Deadbeat” follows Kevin Pacalioglu (“Reaper” alum Tyler Labine), a guy who barely makes a living exorcising ghosts. Deeley plays Camomile White, a celebrity medium with slightly fewer bona fides than Kevin, who will stop at nothing to keep him from toppling her empire.
All 10 episodes of “Deadbeat” will be available on Hulu on Wednesday.
