‘Boardwalk Empire’ Series Finale Up 7 Percent From Last Season

Somewhere far outside of Atlantic City, New Jersey, HBO executives are raising (non-bootlegged) whiskey glasses in a somewhat-measured toast.

“Boardwalk Empire” pulled in 2.3 million viewers in Sunday's 9 p.m. series finale, an uptick of 7 percent from last season's ending episode.

Including subsequent replays, the series finale totaled three million viewers for the night — the largest Sunday night audience for the series this season, HBO boasted. However, at 9 p.m. alone, the Season 5 premiere topped the finale.

Season to date, “Boardwalk” is averaging a gross audience of 6.6 million viewers per episode. Its most-watched episode in the timeslot was the series premiere, which hauled in 4.8 million viewers.
