Anthony Weiner Latest Celeb To Attempt Career Resuscitation Via TV Cameo, On ‘Alpha House’

Amazon Studios Confirms Renewal For ‘Alpha House’, Pickup Of Six New Series

TV cameos are one of the traditional stations of the cross on the road to career redemption. Remember Paula Deen’s taped cameo on Fox’s MasterChef in the fall? Now it’s Anthony Weiner‘s turn, in Friday’s season finale of Amazon’s Alpha House. Weiner will appear as himself in the episode, which also features cameos from Tom Brokaw, former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele and CNN analyst Jeffrey Toobin.

The political comedy written by Garry Trudeau, follows four Republican U.S. senators living together as roommates on Capitol Hill. It was inspired by the actual Capitol Hill home known as The Omega House that’s shared by Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Illinois; Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-New York; and Rep. George Miller, D-California. The show chronicles the follies of Washington politics, speaking of Weiner. The New York Dem resigned from Congress in June 2011 after word got out he was sending racy photos and messages to multiple women who were not his wife. His stab at a political comeback in the NYC mayoral race got aborted when another woman came forward and said Weiner kept sexting her after he left Congress.
