Missing the point? Actress Alice Eve is facing major backlash after posting an Instagram photo in regards to Bruce Jenner's gender identity.
Though the image has since been deleted, according to the BBC, Eve commented on the reality star's public declaration as female, and took issue with his experience.
"Nope," the Star Trek Into Darkness actress, 33, began. "If you were a woman no one would have heard of you because women can't compete in the decathlon. You wouldn't be a hero. You would be a frustrated young athlete who wasn't given a chance."
While the British star is correct that women are ineligible to compete in the Olympic decathlon, many took issue with her focus and stance. Eve went on to touch on equal play and the female experience.
"Until women are paid the same as men, then playing at being a 'woman' while retaining the benefits of being a man is unfair," Eve reportedly wrote. "Do you have a vagina? Are you paid less than men? Then, my friend, you are a woman."
The since-deleted message was met with frustration and criticism from many fans, who called the She's Out of My League star's words "cruel," "terrible," and "blatantly transphobic."
Images that remain on Eve's Instagram account from Monday include a portrait captioned "#EqualPay #EqualRights," and a shot of David Bowie as his androgynous Ziggy Stardust persona, which reads, "I am a supporter of anyone who wishes to explore their gender identity. Sometimes language doesn't express the spectrum of identity sufficiently, as in this case. I am also a believer in equal rights for all... Whatever your race, color or creed."
