Alexandra Socha Upped to Series Regular on Amazon Comedy ‘Red Oaks’

Actress and singer Alexandra Socha has been upped to a series regular on Amazon’s ’80s-set comedy from Steven Soderbergh, “Red Oaks,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Socha, who’s had recurring arcs on “Royal Pains,” “The Big C” and “Damages” and replaced Lea Michele in “Spring Awakening’s” original Broadway production in 2008, was a guest star in the pilot for Amazon Studios, which premiered last year on Amazon Prime Instant Video. The full series is set to bow later this year.

The coming-of-age series, set in suburban New Jersey in the mid-’80s, follows college student David Myers (Craig Roberts), working the summer as an assistant tennis pro at the Red Oaks Country Club, during the last hurrah before his adult life begins. Paul Reiser (“Mad About You”) and Jennifer Grey (“Dirty Dancing”) also star.

Socha will continue her role as Skye in the series.

Soderbergh, Gregory Jacobs, Joe Gangemi and David Gordon Green serve as exec producers.

Socha is repped by Gersh.
