‘300’ Producer Mark Canton Starts Mad Riot Entertainment (EXCLUSIVE)

Mark Canton is pushing into New York City with Mad Riot Entertainment, a movie and TV development production company.

The “300” producer is serving as a partner and creative consultant for Mad Riot, which is launching with Lawrence Smith as CEO, George Davanzo as executive chairman and Dorothy Canton as president.

“Mad Riot is designed to acquire outstanding content and will compete to obtain material in any format or development stage,” Smith said. “We carefully assembled our talented core team and surrounded ourselves with strong, supportive and extremely resourceful partners.”

Smith has worked on “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps,” “Noah” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Davanzo, who has been an investment banker, worked as a financial technical advisor for “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Dorothy Canton, daughter of Mark Canton, is a communications professional in movies and TV and recently worked in publicity for Focus Features on “Dallas Buyers Club.”

Mark Canton heads Atmosphere Entertainment with producing credits on “300,” “300: Rise of an Empire” and “Immortals,” and just wrapped production on “Cake,” starring Jennifer Aniston, Anna Kendrick and Sam Worthington.

Canton also executive produces the Starz series “Power” and is currently in production on Vin Diesel’s “The Last Witch Hunter” which is shooting in Pittsburgh for Lionsgate.

“I am confident that Lawrence, George and Dorothy will create content that will thrill audiences worldwide and I am happy to be working with them on our new company,” he said.
