“American Fiction,” starring Jeffrey Wright and Issa Rae, and Japanese film “Monster” were the top-awarded films at the festival, each taking home three awards. Written and directed by Cord Jefferson and based on the novel “Erasure” by Percival Everett, “American Fiction” has picked up several festival awards this season, including the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The Audience Awards saw best international feature going to the Eugenio Derbez-starrer “Radical” while the best U.S. Feature prize was a tie between Alexander Payne’s “The Holdovers” and “Brave the Dark,” a true story about a troubled young man’s friendship with his drama teacher, played by Jared Harris.
