Newly opened Boca Raton restaurant boasts massive menu, local ingredients

Known for an incredibly diverse menu, Maggie McFly's is now open at Town Center at Boca Raton.

Officially opened just before Thanksgiving, this is the ninth store in the restaurant chain and it's first foray into Florida.

"Diverse" is no joke, as Maggie McFly's menu features more than 200 items including salads, soups, appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, pizza, seafood, steak, ribs and much more.

Though open less than two months, some of the dishes are already beginning to stand out as area favorites. Maggie McFly's marketing manager Carrie Koscal said that some of these include the Thai lettuce wraps, the eggroll sampler, lobster mac & cheese, BBQ brisket, the classic burger (there are actually 16 to choose from), and the New England lobster roll.

The eggroll sampler appetizer at Maggie McFly's features Tex-Mex, buffalo chicken, steak philly and reuben eggrolls with avocado ranch, bleu cheese, siracha aioli and thousand island sauces.

Back in March, founder Ray Harper said that he was excited to bring Maggie McFly's to Florida, stating "I believe we fit into a niche segment the community of Boca Raton will truly appreciate. Unlike national chains, we can purchase from, and cultivate relationships with smaller, local purveyors whose life mission is providing superb products to and for their hyperlocal community."

True to their word, they use shrimp from Crazy Fish distributors in North Lauderdale, the ricotta cavatelli is from Mimi's Ravioli in Hollywood, Bibb lettuce from Hardee Fresh in Wauchula, crostini bread and potato buns from Old School Bakery in Delray Beach, pickles from Farm Fresh Pickles in Pompano, lager from Deadwords Brewing in Orlando is used in several fried fish and chicken dishes, cupcakes from Aloha Bakery in Boynton Beach and on and on.

Still solely owned by founder Harper, the restaurant chain recently celebrated 30 years in business. The first Maggie McFly's opened on Nov. 28, 1993 in Middlebury, Conn.

There are five restaurants in Connecticut, two in Virginia, one in New York and now one in Florida.

The farm to table burger at Maggie McFly's includes grass-fed beef from Lakeland, Fl, applewood smoked bacon, pickles from Pompano Beach, red onion, gouda, tomato, and bibb lettuce from Hardee on a potato bun.

Koscal said Florida had always been on Harper's radar and that when the space within Town Center at Boca Raton was presented to him, he fell in love with the location and the community as well.

Koscal said that since the opening, Harper has been on-site 95 percent of the time and that he's passionate and hands-on when it comes to his restaurants. The company's executive chef, Rogerio Prates, executive kitchen manager Jaime Rendon and members of Maggie McFly's "elite team members" were all brought in from other locations to help train the new team.
