Newfields Winterlights will return Nov. 19 with a record-setting number of holiday lights

Newfields will ring in its seventh annual Winterlights with almost 2 million lights — a record by its count. They'll shine over several areas across the art and nature campus grounds from Nov. 19 to Jan. 7, according to a news release.

Traditions will return along with new sights and sounds, including a concert series with Forty5 Presents and a variety show with Indy Pride at the Toby theater inside the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Another new twist will come to the Landscape of Light — 300,000 color-changing LED bulbs that are synchronized to music in front of Lilly House. This time, patrons will hear selections from Yuletide's Holly Jolly Dollies and a swing arrangement of the Nutcracker — recorded by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra with Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly.

Look for color blossoms that glow across the old Interurban Railway as well as Twinkling Trail, where patrons can walk into a huge ornament decorated with white lights, cone trees and a tunnel of lights. Owens + Crawley's "Astraeus" light installation as well as Happy Rebels' "Big Piñata" will return after their introduction last year.

Food and beverage options throughout Winterlights will include Electric Reindeer beer, spiced plum cider, gingerbread popcorn and chocolate chip cookies. Hot cocoa and apple cider can be spiked with peppermint vodka or whiskey. A barrel-aged Old Fashioned will be new this year.
