New York City finds a new way to show Aaron Judge how much it loves him

Thus far in his short but decorated baseball career, New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge has won the Rookie of the Year award, led his team on a surprising postseason run, won the Home Run Derby, set the MLB rookie home run record and has even been put on the cover of a video game.

Now Judge has garnered one more fun bullet-point for his amazing 2017 — he got 10 write-in votes for mayor of New York City in the election that happened earlier this month. Via Matt Mazzeo of the New York Daily News:

Let’s pause the Judge train to examine the rest of that. Kristaps Porzingis, the New York Knicks star, would have gotten more votes than Judge if New Yorkers knew how to spell his name. Campaigns 101, folks: People have to know your name to vote for you. Work on that for the next election cycle, Kriskringle Porzinger.

As for Judge, we can’t say for sure what his credentials are for office. But we know he’s powerful and likable — a strong and silent type who might whiff on some policy matters but when he connects, the impact is undeniable.

Alas, incumbent Bill de Blasio won re-election over Judge, Porzingis and a few actual politicians. Perhaps Aaron would fare better if he ran for — come on, you knew this was coming — a Judge’s seat.

Yeah, that was horrible. I’ll see myself out.
