New Trailer: Watch Jennifer Connelly and Cillian Murphy in Airy 'Aloft'

If the above trailer for Aloft raises questions, that’s because it was meant to.

Jennifer Connelly plays an artist and ostensible healer who at one point in her life feels justified in abandoning her son (Cillian Murphy), a falconer. Mélanie Laurent arrives on the scene to question their relationship. The mysterious, dreamy world created by writer-director Claudia Llosa (The Milk of Sorrow) smacks of Terrence Malick’s style (think The Thin Red Line, Tree of Life). Like Malick’s films, Aloft doesn’t follow a traditional narrative structure and also explores some of life’s biggest questions.

Aloft, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival this year, opens in New York and Los Angeles May 22, expanding nationwide the following weeks.
