New 'Cabin Fever' Trailer Is Giving Us Déjà Vu

We’ve just been given a trailer for an upcoming remake of Cabin Fever, Eli Roth’s 2002 gross-out horror flick, and, boy, does it make us feel like it’s already Groundhog Day. Major déjà vu everywhere.

Don’t expect much to be different in this version of Cabin Fever — director Travis Zarwiny is using Roth’s shooting script from the original movie, and Roth will hang around as executive producer. So when we say this is a remake, we mean the crew is making the same film, only 14 years later.

We’ve seen this sort of thing at least once before, when Gus Van Sant made an experimental shot-for-shot remake of Psycho. And we all know how that turned out. So what’s the thinking here? We’re not so sure — we suppose we’ll just have to hold out hope for that Green Inferno remake. It has been out for, like, five months already.
