Nevada RB James Butler says he's grad transferring to Iowa
Nevada running back James Butler will play his senior season in the Big Ten.
Butler, one of the most prolific running backs in the country in 2016, is transferring to Iowa for the 2017 season. He said in a Twitter post Tuesday that he wanted to be closer to his family and mother.

Butler is a native of Bloomingdale, Illinois. He rushed for 1,336 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2016 for the Wolf Pack and averaged over 140 all-purpose yards per game.
His arrival at Iowa means the Hawkeyes have a great chance to have two 1,000-yard rushers for a second-straight season. In 2016, both Leshun Daniels and Akrum Wadley rushed for over 1,000 yards. Daniels was a senior in 2016, while Wadley returns for his senior year in 2017.
Wadley had 1,081 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns last season while he also had 36 catches for 315 yards and three scores.
The addition of Butler means Iowa can rely even more on the run game to start the 2017 as it breaks in a new starting quarterback. After the departure of C.J. Beathard, the Hawkeyes’ starter will be either Nathan Stanley or Tyler Wiegers. Stanley was Beathard’s backup in 2016.
