Days after a 5-year-old boy in North Las Vegas, Nev., was fatally struck by a van on his way to school, a 41-year-old man accused of driving under the influence in another state has been arrested again on the same charge in connection with the child’s death.

Kamari “K.K.” Jordan Wolfe was “run over multiple times” heading to Somerset Academy, a charter school in North Las Vegas, his aunt, Tracy Wolfe-Coleman, said in a GoFundMe post.

The kindergartener had just climbed out of his mother’s car around 7:50 a.m. when, crossing the school driveway, he was struck by a van Friday, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. At that moment, the outlet reported, a van tried to go around a line of stalled vehicles and hit the child.

A paramedic and nursing student performed CPR before he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Wolfe-Coleman said in her post.

The driver of the van allegedly tried to leave, Wolfe-Coleman said in the post, but he was stopped by other concerned parents at the school.

Guillermo Chochi Senobua, 41, was booked into North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center Monday evening, according to online jail records. He is charged with one felony count of driving under the influence, according to online records. (The Review-Journal and Fox5 reported that he was arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and for not giving his full time and attention to driving.)

It was not his first driving under the influence charge. Following a voluntary blood draw to test for alcohol in his system, police determined that he already had an outstanding warrant for his arrest stemming from a DUI charge in Texas, the Review-Journal and Fox5 reported.

It's not clear if he has entered a plea to any of the charges or retained an attorney to comment on his behalf.

Chochi Senobua did not appear intoxicated, police said, according to both outlets, which noted that police said the driver stayed at the fatal scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The case has not been assigned a court case number and was on hold pending a DUI liquor breath test, according to the online records Tuesday. Chochi Senobua is being held without bond.

As of publication, the North Las Vegas Police Department had not responded to PEOPLE with additional details of the incident.

Some 100 people – including people the family did not know – gathered near the school with candles, flowers and balloons for a vigil Friday night, celebrating the life of the boy who enjoyed Power Rangers, the Review-Journal reported.

Donations to the GoFund me site will help KK’s mom, Jasmyn Wolfe, as the single mother prepares for his funeral and cares for his two remaining siblings, Wolfe-Coleman said. Donations had reached nearly $29,000 by Tuesday afternoon.

“He was full of life,” KK’s grandmother Kari Schultz, 51, told the Review-Journal, adding: “He gave people hugs and he squeezed them so tight, you know, he just wouldn’t let go.”
