Get ready to go back to the wonderful world of Avatar: The Last Airbender. While the original animated series has proven to be a big hit with Netflix as old fans reminisce and new one fall in love with the show, the streaming giant is taking things one step further and giving fans an extra special treat: a live-action series. While some viewers might be a little hesitant about supporting another adaptation, Netflix is making some big changes to the way it'll run to make sure that everyone ends up happy.

So what can fans expect from the Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series? And when is it coming out?

Here's everything you need to know about Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender?

Has the cast been confirmed?

Netflix confirmed the show's cast on Twitter. Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu have signed on to star in the upcoming series.

Gordon will play Aang. Kiawentiio is slated to star as Katara. Ian will play Sokka and Dallas has been named as Zuko.

Albert Kim, known for his work on Sleepy Hallow and Nikita, has been named the show's writer, executive producer and showrunner.

Is Netflix seriously making a live-action ATLA?

Yep and it's been in the works for quite a while now. Although the original series just dropped on the streaming giant in late-May 2020, Netflix announced that the show will be turned into a live-action series back in 2018.

Will it have anything to do with the The Last Airbender film?

Luckily for fans who were disappointed by the live-action movie, the new series will not include the film and will instead start from the beginning.

Will the original creators be a part of the live-action series?

Just like the original film, the live-action show creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who are also known together as Bryke, will not be a part of the process. Netflix announced that the duo would be returning to the series in their original announcement.

However, on August 12, 2020, Bryke announced that they would be stepping away from the series due to creative differences from Netflix. A new showrunner has not been announced.

Is anyone else coming back for the show?

Original series composer, Jeremy Zuckerman, is said to be returning to create the music for the new live-action series. There's no word on if any of the other writers will coming back to help adapt the series, but with a tight-knit group like the ATLA gang, it wouldn't be too surprising if they came back too.

Who will be playing the characters?

Casting for show hasn't been announced and it's a safe bet to say that things have been delayed due to COVID-19. However, unlike with the film adaptation, fans won't have to worry about whitewashing this time.

"We’re thrilled for the opportunity to helm this live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender," Bryke said in a statement. "We can’t wait to realize Aang’s world as cinematically as we always imagined it to be, and with a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build upon everyone’s great work on the original animated series and go even deeper into the characters, story, action, and world-building. Netflix is wholly dedicated to manifesting our vision for this retelling, and we’re incredibly grateful to be partnering with them."
