Netflix's 'You' Gets Renewed For A Third Season

An Addictive And Disturbing Show

Netflix has an addictive hit on its hands with You. Following the romantic and violent exploits of serial killer Joe, played by Gossip Girl's Penn Badgley, You has viewers horrified while also desperate to know what Joe does next.

The second season (spoilers) saw Joe settle down in a seemingly idyllic suburbia with fellow killer Love preparing for the birth of their child. However, despite the fact that they had seemingly gotten away with all of the murders in their wake, Joe appears to be forming a new obsession with their neighbor right away. Is she his long lost mother or another young woman who will fall under his thrall?

A Third Season Is On The Way

Netflix announced on Tuesday that Joe Goldberg would return for a third season, and fans collectively lost their shit. According to reports, You season three would hit the streaming service sometime in 2021, would be ten episodes long, and would feature the return of Badgley and Victoria Pedretti's Love.

Fans immediately went into overdrive, tweeting their excitement about a third season.

"‘new year, new you’ weren’t we a clown to think that a man could change"

"Y'all work faster than Joe when he finds a new You"

"Can I be one of the victims 😂"

People Are Obsessed

The first season of You aired on Lifetime before moving to Netflix for season two, and fans have been tweeting up a storm about the season since it was released.

"This man really fooled me. For a whole 40 min I thought maybe he had changed and then boom he brought his lil box with him #YouNetflix"

"Every.single.time you think Joe is doing something genuinely nice by coincidence, it ends up being pre-meditated stalker shit 🥴"

"I kinda get creeped out watching You right before bed but then I remember I have curtains so I’m already one step ahead of Guinevere Beck"

The Power Of Penn Badgley

It's safe to say that people's obsession with You, and specifically with Penn Badgley, will carry on into a third season. It should be an interesting ride. Badgley spoke to TVLine and told them that people should not be expecting smooth sailing for Joe and Love.

"They’re not soulmates. He’s afraid of her at the end. Basically, it’s set up for Season 3 in a way where they would be each other’s arch nemesis."

Should we also expect Joe to change his ways with fatherhood? Badgley isn't so sure.

"Does he have it in him, in that he’s a human being? Is it possible? Sure. And if there’s anything that can change a person, it’s parenthood. But I don’t know that Joe can or should change. I certainly don’t know if he will change."

Time to wait impatiently until 2021.
