Netflix's first 'Locke & Key' trailer welcomes you to Keyhouse

It’s been a long time coming, but the Locke & Key TV show is finally here. An adaptation of the popular horror comic by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez has been in the works for years; Hulu ordered a pilot but never actually greenlit it, allowing the project to be picked up by Netflix in 2018. It has certainly been a wait for fans of the comic that started in 2008, but now there’s a trailer — and it has lots of secrets to tease.

After the Locke family patriarch is murdered, his wife and children pick up and move across the country to his ancestral home in New England. Like the best haunted houses, Keyhouse is huge and full of mystery. But true to the name, Keyhouse’s biggest secret lies with the numerous magical keys hidden throughout, which open all kinds of doors. One of the keys opens a door to anywhere the holder wants, while another key unlocks a door that separates people’s ghosts from their bodies — which you can see young Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) using in the new trailer.

The keys are magical, but also scary — mostly because a certain malevolent spirit wants them, in order to open the most dangerous door of all.

Locke & Key hits Netflix on Feb. 7. Check out the trailer above.
