Netflix Spoofs Apple Watch with ‘Netflix Watch’ Parody Video

In a late April Fool’s stunt, Netflix has posted a dead-on parody of the Apple Watch — with a fake announcement of a wrist-bound video device that would let subs stream videos anytime, anyplace.

“It’s the vast world of Netflix, right on your wrist!” exclaims the narrator of a video uploaded Wednesday. “Because life is too short to waste precious time not watching Netflix.”

Apple is launching the Apple Watch — which does not, for the record, support Netflix video-streaming — priced starting at $349 and available to pre-order on Friday. The device, a companion to iPhones, provides app alerts, music playback, certain biofeedback monitoring and other features (such as displaying the current time).

But the fictional Netflix Watch, even though it’s the size of an iPhone, sounds way better.

“Experience total freedom with the all-new Netflix Watch,” the company says in the description of the video. “Now you can view your favorite Netflix originals directly from your wrist. Not only do you get a clear picture, quality streaming and your favorite shows and movies but it also isn’t THAT inconvenient. So for a relaxing time, make it a Netflix time.”

The Netflix parody video ends, “Look out for the Netflix Watch Plus — for a 4K streaming experience you can take anywhere!” That device, per the video, is the size of a tablet.

Netflix did not reveal pricing for the Netflix Watch, probably because it’s never going to become available.
