Netflix Series Gives the Inside Scoop On Our Fave Films

Let's Get Together, We'll Have a Few Laughs

A new documentary series on Netflix, set to air today, will delve into the backstory of a few of our favorite, most beloved films.

The series is called "The Movies That Made Us," and it's modeled after that other popular Netflix series "The Toys That Made Us."

Johnny and Baby Together Again

The episodes include interviews with people like actors Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters) and Daniel Stern (Home Alone). Directors Ivan Reitman and Chris Columbus will hopefully dish out some good intel on these timeless movies.

According to the show's creator, Brian Volk-Weiss, the goal is for people to “never watch the movie again in the same way.”

Movies We All Know and Love

“Basically what we tried to do was really take what people seem to love about 'The Toys That Made Us' and do it for 'The Movies That Made Us,' ” said Volk-Weiss.

Four iconic films will be featured: Ghostbusters, Dirty Dancing, Die Hard, and Home Alone.

Hungry For More

So far, many reactions have been positive, especially underneath a post by the Twitter page The Toys That Made Us.

"Feels like the toy line alone couldn’t summarize how impactful GB was so this was a breakout? Either way I’m here for it," said @GB3Blog.

"So ... The Movies That Made Us will be single episode drops? Not multiples at one time? 😬 I don't know if I can handle that ... 😆," said another.

"Seriously though, thanks for these! I want ALL the "The _______ That Made Us"! Everything! Nostalgic food/candy, clothing trends/fads, music, etc.!" wrote @mickisuzette.
