Netflix Schedule Additions: New TV Movies Arriving November 14-20
A new German mystery series is about to debut on Netflix.
Starting on Thursday, November 17, fans can watch 1899 on the streaming service. The show comes from Dark series creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, who created and produced 1899, in addition to serving as showrunners. Friese is also writing the series, while Odar is the director. The epic horror stars Emily Beecham, Aneurin Barnard, Andreas Pietschmann, as well as Miguel Bernardeau, and Maciej Musial. Additionally, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, Rosalie Craig, Clara Rosager, Maria Erwolter, Yann Gael, Mathilde Ollivier, José Pimentão, Isabella Wei, Gabby Wong, Jonas Bloquet, Fflyn Edwards, Alexandre Willaume, Anton Lasser, and more.
“The eight episodes follow the mysterious circumstances around the voyage of an immigrant ship from Europe to New York,” reads the synopsis. “The passengers, all of different backgrounds and nationalities, are united by their hopes and dreams for a new century and their future abroad. When they discover a second ship adrift on the open sea that had gone missing for months, their journey takes an unexpected turn. What they find on board will turn their passage to the promised land into a nightmare-like riddle, connecting each of the passenger’s pasts through a web of secrets.”
Odar and Friese once more join forces with the exceptional talent behind the camera known from the Dark universe. In addition to the return of director of photography Nikolaus Summerer, 1899 will feature set designer Udo Kramer. Additionally, hair & makeup designer Christina Wagner and composer Ben Frost. They are also working with new collaborators such as casting director Lucy Bevan, Oscar-nominated costume designer Bina Daigeler, and Framestore’s integrated visualization, virtual production, and VFX teams supervised by Christian Kaestner.
