Netflix Reveals First Look at Marvel's 'The Defenders' in Cryptic, Easter Egg-Filed Teaser

The Defenders are coming!

Netflix released a mysterious 16-second video on Tuesday -- cryptically titled "Midland Circle Security Elevator B" -- which appears to be a black-and-white clip from an elevator's security camera.

However, the four agitated figures riding the elevator aren't just any random passengers! It's Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones).

Netflix's cadre of Marvel heroes are joining forces for their long-awaited team-up series, The Defenders, and we finally have a look at what the mismatched group of superheroes looks like in action -- or rather, immediately following some action.

From the short clip -- which ends abruptly when Jessica smashes the camera with her fist -- it looks like the group has just engaged in some serious combat. Alarms are blaring, Iron Fist looks exhausted and Luke Cage's clothes are dotted with bullet holes.

We can only hope the team-up series will feature some of the epic, single-take, mind-blowing hallway fights and corridor throw downs that made each individual show so great, amplified to a new, insane level of awesomeness.

While fans don't get to see much of their new favorite Marvel team, Netflix did reveal the show's release date to those looking closely.

If you check out the time stamp in the top right corner of the screen when Jones obliterates the camera, the clock stops at 08:18:20:17 -- which obviously stands for Aug. 18, 2017!

However, the Easter eggs don't stop there! Check out the line of numbers in the top left corner of the screen. Entering them as a URL -- http://23.253.120.81 -- takes you to the awesome online archive for the (fictitious) New York Bulletin. It's a little bit of engaging, alternate reality fun for fans that might set this Netflix series apart from other Marvel offerings.

ET caught up with Colter last year, and the Luke Cage star opened up about what he's looking forward to from The Defenders.

"I am really excited about that, actually," Colter said. "I want to see how it unfolds. I want to see how our relationships are set up. I mean, me and Jessica left in a situation [where] we're kind of rocky. I haven't met Iron Fist, Danny Rand, yet. I haven't met Daredevil on screen. It's going to be nice to see how they unfold [everything]."
