Netflix’s ‘Joel McHale Show’ Teases the ‘Community’ Spinoff You’re Still Hoping For (Video)

While holding out hope for that “Community” movie, you can spend your time checking out this trailer for the upcoming premiere of Netflix’s “The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale.” It’ll give you a taste of Greendale, even though it takes place at the streaming service’s headquarters.

In the clip, McHale runs into his former “Community” co-stars Alison Brie and Jim Rash while grabbing a cup of joe on his new stomping grounds. The two of them have already made themselves at home at Netflix, as Brie stars on “Glow” and Rash hosted the “Stranger Things 2” after show, “Beyond Stranger Things.” When they meet up, Rash tries to pitch a “Community” spinoff and Brie and McHale shoot their old “dean” down faster than you can say paintball episode.

Brie and Rash will probably continue this bit with McHale when they guest star on the first episode of the Netflix series, which drops Sunday.

Even though the spinoff probably isn’t happening, the movie fans have long campaigned for still might, seeing as Danny Pudi tells TheWrap he is on board and creator Dan Harmon swears he’s “trying”to make it happen.

McHale’s new show is a weekly half-hour topical series that takes a sharp, absurdist look at pop culture and news from across the globe. According to Netflix, it’s a fast and funny distillation of everything people are talking about that week. It will feature celebrity guests, comedy sketches and insane video clips from the worldwide realms of TV, sports, politics, celebrity culture and every corner of the internet.

The show is hosted and executive produced by McHale, with Paul Feig, KP Anderson, Jessie Henderson, Brad Stevens and Boyd Vico also holding executive producer credits. The series hales from Pygmy Wolf Productions, Free Period Productions, and Feigco Entertainment in association with Lionsgate Television.
