Netflix drops ‘Griselda’ trailer and premiere date: Sofia Vergara takes dramatic turn ‘as you’ve never seen her before’ [WATCH]

Netflix has dropped its first teaser trailer for “Griselda,” a new limited series starring Sofia Vergara in her first dramatic role. The Emmy nominee also serves as an executive producer alongside “Narcos” and “Narcos: Mexico” creators Eric Newman and Andrés Baiz (who also directs all six episodes). “Griselda” will debut globally on Netflix on January 25, 2024. Watch the trailer below.

According to the streamer, “‘Griselda’ is inspired by the life of the savvy and ambitious Colombian, Griselda Blanco, who created one of the most profitable cartels in history. In the 1970s-80s Miami, Blanco’s lethal blend of unsuspected savagery and charm helped her expertly navigate between business and family, leading her to become widely known as ‘the Godmother.'”

“Griselda” consists of six one-hour episodes. Starring alongside Vergara are Alberto Guerra (Dario Sepúlveda), Christian Tappan (Arturo Mesa), Martín Rodríguez (Rivi Ayala), Juliana Aidén Martinez (June Hawkins) and Vanessa Ferlito (Carmen Gutiérrez). Writers include Ingrid Escajeda, Doug Miro, Eric Newman, Brenna Kouf, Cassie Pappas, Turi Meyer, Alfredo Septién, Gina Lucita Monreal, Giovanna Sarquis and Carlo Bernard.

Netflix promises Vergara “as you’ve never seen her before.” She earned four Emmy nominations for making us laugh on ABC’s “Modern Family” and has starred in funny films like “Hot Pursuit” opposite Reese Witherspoon and “Strays” with Will Ferrell and Jamie Foxx. She can currently be seen as a judge on NBC’s ratings hit “America’s Got Talent.”
