Knowing Netflix‘s multi-million dollar deal with Prince Harry, and their hit series about the British royal family, The Crown, one could assume that Harry’s was asked to be involved. After all, no one’s a bigger expert on the royals than a royal himself.

In a new Variety interview with Peter Morgan, the creator of The Crown, however, he said Harry’s production are his own are very much separate. “I’ve never had the conversation with him about it,” he revealed. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos echoed that division. “We keep a wall around this topic when we talk,” he told the outlet, “for obvious reasons.”

In addition to not asking for the Duke of Sussex’s input, Morgan revealed he hasn’t had a chance to dive into Harry’s side of the story much either. When asked if he’d read Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare, for example, Morgan explained. “I’ve not read a word of it. Not that I wouldn’t be interested,” he told the outlet. “But I didn’t want his voice to inhabit my thinking too much. I’ve got a lot of sympathy with him, a lot of sympathy. But I didn’t want to read his book.”

As for what will be included on the new season of The Crown, whose trailer just dropped (see above), Variety reports the drama will focus “on the direct line of succession: Elizabeth, Charles, William.” Harry, therefore, will be rarely talked about. “I do little bits of dramatization of Harry but mainly only in relationship to William,” Morgan revealed.

In addition to the three heirs to the British throne, Part I of the series’ last season, which airs on Nov. 16, will focus on Princess Diana‘s stressful and paparazzi-filled final years before her death in 1997.

Speaking of Diana, the former Princess of Wales’ storyline has gotten plenty of attention lately after the Daily Mail revealed that a “ghost” of the royal would reappear in the show following her death.

In Morgan’s interview, however, he cleared the air. “I never imagined it as Diana’s ‘ghost’ in the traditional sense,” the creator explained. “It was her continuing to live vividly in the minds of those she has left behind. Diana was unique, and I suppose that’s what inspired me to find a unique way of representing her. She deserved special treatment narratively.” We can’t wait to tune in!
