With Netflix cracking down on users sharing passwords, a lot of people will suddenly be facing a tough choice: “Should I pay for Netflix Premium and enjoy 4K, no ads, and other benefits? Or, should I pay a lot less and deal with ads and 720p/1080p quality?” Here’s the need-to-know information on why Netflix 4K Premium is so expensive and whether or not it’s worth paying for.

Why is Netflix 4K Premium so expensive?

Netflix 4K Premium is so expensive at $19.99 because it comes with advert-free movies, TV shows, mobile games, and the ability to watch on four supported devices simultaneously. Additionally, users can download movies/TV shows on up to six supported devices at a time.

The problem with this is that users who are only really interested in the 4K quality still have to subscribe to Premium, even if they won’t use the plan’s other features. Ultra HD 4K is exclusive to Premium, with Standard and Standard With Adverts limited to Full HD 1080p, and Basic capped at HD 720p.

Is it worth paying more for Netflix 4K Premium?

Netflix 4K Premium will be worth it for those in a household where many people want to use Netflix, who have multiple devices that they want to download and watch movies or TV shows on, and/or value the high-quality of 4K, perhaps on a big-screen TV.

For those just wanting the bare minimum experience, who perhaps live alone, and who don’t mind adverts, the money saved from going with Basic ($9.99 or Standard With Adverts ($6.99) could be a better option.

It’s worth mentioning that, in most countries, it’s possible to invite an extra member or two from outside of the account holder’s household to enjoy Netflix at a reduced cost. That can be enabled here.
