Neon Nights 2024 features 'amazing' lineup: Brad Paisley, ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd

LAWRENCE TWP. − Neon Nights 2024 will feature a star-loaded lineup and rock-country mix of Brad Paisley, Trace Adkins, ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The annual country music festival, which will be Aug. 9-10 at Clay's Resort Jellystone Park in Stark County, announced its lineup this week. Tickets went on sale Friday at https://www.theneonnights.com/.

Neon Nights is a spin-off event of The Country Fest, a longtime and highly popular music festival at Clay's Resort every summer.

Neon Nights also showcases country music but skews toward classic artists from the 1980s and 1990s. This past summer's festival featured Tim McGraw, Wynonna Judd, Travis Tritt and Rodney Atkins.

"We are so excited to bring Neon Nights back to the beautiful Clay's Jellystone Park for the fourth time in August," said Aaron Green, who co-owns and co-operates Neon Nights with his business partner Joel Beichler. The friends and partners also co-founded and oversee The Country Fest.

Featuring both traditional country and Southern rock, Green said Neon Nights will draw a broad mix of concertgoers and ages.

"This year should be a record breaker and get close to hitting our limited capacity, so our folks sitting in the lawn have plenty of room," he added.

Up to 13,000 fans attended the 2023 Neon Nights concerts while The Country Fest attracted a peak of around 18,000.

How good is the Neon Nights 2024 lineup?

Lynyrd Skynyrd is a name synonymous with classic rock.

After losing multiple original members in a 1977 plane crash, the Southern rock stalwarts have continued to be a staple on classic rock radio and on tour. Hit songs include "Sweet Home Alabama," "Free Bird," "Simple Man" and "Gimme Three Steps."

Founding member Gary Rossington died in March at age 71.

The band also is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Fellow rock hall inductee ZZ Top is also a classic rock juggernaut.

The Texas band released its first album in 1971 before achieving mainstream commercial and pop radio success with hit songs and popular MTV videos in the 1980s. Popular songs include "La Grange," "Cheap Sunglasses," "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Man," "Legs" and "Rough Boy."

Will there still be country music at Neon Nights?

Although ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd are a strong one-two punch of classic rock, Brad Paisley will headline the first day of the festival preceded by Trace Adkins.

Other performers include Blackhawk and The Kentucky Headhunters. And two other concert slots for Aug. 9 have not been filled yet.

Grammy winner Paisley isn't new to Stark County, having headlined the 2021 Concert for Legends at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium during the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival.

Lynyrd Skynyrd had been scheduled to co-headline the 2021 Concert for Legends, but canceled when a band member contracted COVID-19.

Debuting in 1999, Paisley's popular songs include "Water," "Ticks," "We Danced," "I'm Gonna Miss Her" and "Letter to Me."

Adkins, meanwhile, performed at a USFL playoff game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in 2022.

Debuting in 1996, the country music star's hit songs include "Every Light In the House," "Just Fishin'," "Hillbilly Bone" and "(This Ain’t) No Thinkin’ Thing."

How much do tickets cost and what time are the concerts?

The Aug. 9 lineup is Adkins at 7:30 p.m. and Paisley at 9:30 p.m. Musicals artists for the 4 and 5:45 p.m. time slots will be announced later.

The Aug. 10 lineup is The Kentucky Headhunters at 4 p.m.; Black Hawk at 4:45 p.m.; ZZ Top at 7:30 p.m.; and Lynyrd Skynyrd at 9:15 p.m.

What are fans saying about Neon Nights?

Reaction on The Country Fest Facebook page was overwhelmingly positive. Many comments were one word: "Amazing."

"Now that is a legendary lineup," posted Wyatt Blackwood.

Kimberly Venables Williams went one step further: "This (lineup) is better than Country Fest!!!!"

Cory Shaffer echoed the excitement. "Wow. What a (lineup)!"
