When Gregg died in September 2021, NeNe recalled how their family "gathered in the foyer area of the house and kind of held hands and prayed"

NeNe Leakes is remembering her last moments with her late husband Gregg Leakes.

In a touching video titled “I’m lost without you” shared on YouTube, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star compiled a series of photos and videos of Gregg — who died from colon cancer in September 2021 at age 66 — and recalled the couple’s last night together as well as his celebration of life in a voiceover.

"The morning of Sept. 1, 2021, my whole life changed," NeNe, 55, began, sharing how his condition had worsened due to his colon cancer towards the end of his life. "That morning I came downstairs, Gregg looked totally different than the way he had previously looked and I got really upset.”

"I was like, 'Oh my God, what happened to Gregg? What have you guys done to him?'” she continued, recalling how she questioned his hospice caretakers. “He was pulling and fighting and kind of like, just trying to take his shirt off and he was just totally different. He had not ever been this way... Yes, I knew he was passing but I just thought somebody had done something to Gregg."

While Gregg usually denied taking morphine or other pain medications, NeNe instructed his caretaker to give him a little medication after Greg looked “very confused” and was “struggling to breathe.”

Knowing that he was “close to passing,” the reality star recalled filling their home with Gregg’s loved ones who “never left his side.” His six children — Daryl, Damian, Dexter, Denton, Katrina, their shared son Brentt and her son Bryson — were with him during his final days.

His friends and family spent time with him “around the clock” for several minutes at a time, and when Gregg grew tired of visitors, he would watch his favorite western specials.

When he finally died, NeNe recalled how “all of us kind of gathered in the foyer area of the house and kind of held hands and prayed.”

Because Gregg never wanted a funeral or to be "buried in the ground," his family members threw a celebration of life at the Bravolebrity’s Linnethia Lounge in Atlanta, Georgia, in order to honor his memory.

The memorial was attended by several of NeNe's former RHOA costars including Phaedra Parks, Marlo Hampton, Porsha Williams and Eva Marcille.

“My life was turned upside down after losing my husband Gregg, now I'm forced to navigate life alone after sharing it with my partner of 27 years,” she wrote in the video’s description. “I have taken time to reflect and now look forward to new beginnings. I'm hopeful for what life will bring and welcome you to witness my journey.”
