NeNe Leakes Defends Ripping the Shirt of a Real Housewives Cameraman for Going in Her Closet
NeNe Leakes is defending herself after fans of Real Housewives of Atlanta slammed her for violently ripping off a cameraman’s shirt for going in her closet.
On Sunday night’s episode of the Bravo franchise, Leakes, 51, hosted a “Bye Wig” party where her fellow housewives had to come without wigs, hair extensions or weaves.
At the event, Kandi Burruss and Porsha Williams took it upon themselves to venture into NeNe’s famous wardrobe, after being told not to.
“Hell no,” Leakes yelled to Burruss after the singer, 41, asked to see her closet. “My closet is not together.”
Burruss explained during a confessional that Leakes always talked about her closet, so she wanted to see it.
The ladies decided to go into her closet anyway and a cameraman followed behind them, prompting Leakes to completely lose her cool.
As the cameraman started walking towards Leakes’ closet, the Bravo star leaped up and ripped the man’s shirt in an attempt to get him to not go any further.
Chaos then ensued as the women can be heard screaming and someone yelled out “She’s pregnant!” seemingly in reference to Williams, 37. The camera then went black.
Following the episode, Leakes appeared on an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to explain why she felt so strongly.
When asked if she overreacted, Leakes told Andy Cohen “No, I did not.”
“How are you going to overreact in your own home? If I tell you to visit me and sit right here, you need to sit right here. You don’t have the right to go through my house to open my doors, my closets, my pantries, none of that.”
“When you come to my house, you’re not going to disrespect my home,” Leakes continued. “They were not in the right. Because you can’t come in someone’s house — First of all, they weren’t even invited upstairs. They just came upstairs on their own.”
Cohen, 50, then presented Leakes with a poll from viewers, which showed fans siding with Williams and Burruss over Leakes.
“I don’t give a damn whose side they’re on. I don’t give a dam about this poll,” Leakes fired back.
Leakes, however, did not specify why she didn’t want the ladies or the cameraman in her closet.
“I don’t even know why I have to explain anything in my house. If I tell you that you can’t go in my closet, you can’t go in my closet,” Leakes added.
Leakes’ onscreen altercation comes amid her husband Gregg Leakes‘ cancer battle.
Prior to the closet fiasco, Leakes got emotional when talking to Cynthia Bailey and Marlo Hampton about her wellbeing while caring for her ailing husband.
On the Feb. 10 episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Leakes broke down again, telling Bailey, 52, she’s “overwhelmed.”

“It’s a lot for me. I don’t ever get emotional about stuff but this is making me emotional, it really is,” Leakes explained.
In previous episodes, Leakes said that Gregg’s attitude had been very negative and short as he sought treatment.
Leakes revealed in June that Gregg, 64, was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer.
