NCIS‘ Special Agent Jessica Knight and Dr. Jimmy Palmer will have some hard decisions to make in the Season 21 finale, airing this Monday at 9/8c on CBS.

In the season ender titled “Reef Madness,” Knight (played by Katrina Law) and Special Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole) discover three bodies aboard an old Navy ship that’s about to be sunk and turned into an artificial reef — and then are suddenly locked inside by a mysterious figure.

But before that high drama hits, NCIS Director Vance will present Knight with a unique opportunity, one that will prove to be a “crossroads” for the agency’s rising star.

Speaking with TVLine’s Keisha Hatchett on Thursday night at CBS’ fall schedule reveal party, Rocky Carroll, who plays Vance, said that Knight finds herself “at a crossroads, both professionally and personally” in Monday’s finale, when Vance presents her with the aforementioned career move.

Jimmy, in turn, “is now realizing that whatever this is they’ve had” on the romantic front, “it may come to an end,” Carroll previews.

In the video above, Dietzen and Law themselves give a sense of the angst to come.

“Ever since Knight forgot to introduce Palmer to her father, there have been some issues that have been happening off-screen,” Law shares. “I think both of them have been doing some soul searching to figure out what direction they would like to go — and if they’re go to be going in the same direction at the same time.”

“There’s some bubbling. There’s some stuff bubbling to the surface,” Dietzen affirms.

Will Jess’ matters of the heart and career get some sort of closure before NCIS heads into summer hiatus?

“By the time we get to the end of this episode, Special Agent Knight is going to have to make some hard decisions,” Rocky Carroll affirms, “and the audience should stand by, because you’ll get those answers.”

In addition to any Jimmy/Jess drama, Dietzen enthuses that the season finale finds “people’s lives in danger, there is some action, there’s wonderful stunt work, amazing sets… It’s not one to be missed.”
