Created by Gary Glasberg, NCIS: New Orleans is a CBS police procedural TV series that serves as a spin-off to NCIS and is the third entry in the NCIS franchise. The series predominantly takes place in New Orleans and revolves around a fictional team of special agents belonging to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), as they investigate various criminal cases related to the US military. NCIS: New Orleans premiered on March 25, 2014, and garnered mostly positive reviews. Season 7 originally aired between November 8, 2020, and May 23, 2021. If you are wondering whether there will be a season 8, this is what we have discovered.

Here’s all we know about NCIS: New Orleans Season 8 and whether or not it’s coming out.

Is there an NCIS: New Orleans Season 8 release date?

There is no NCIS: New Orleans Season 8 release date as the series concluded after seven seasons.

In May 2020, NCIS: New Orleans was renewed for the seventh season. In February 2021, while season 7 was on-air, it was announced that the said season would be the final chapter of the series. Scott Bakula, who portrays Dwayne “King” Cassius Pride, said in a statement, “Sad to end our love affair with this phenomenal city but so grateful for all the friends we made along the way. I will miss the music. Big thank you to CBS for seven years.”

Showrunners Jan Nash and Christopher Silber echoed Bakula’s sentiment in their statement. “It has been our sincere pleasure and honor to work on this show and with this incredible cast and crew for over 150 episodes,” the statement said. “As disappointed as we are to see NOLA end, we couldn’t be prouder of the work we’ve done and are grateful to the spectacular and resilient Crescent City that embraced us for seven wonderful years.”

NCIS: New Orleans has the distinction of being the first NCIS show to come to an end. Silber and Nash went on to develop NCIS: Hawaiʻi, another entry in the NCIS franchise, with Matt Bosack. The new show premiered on September 20, 2021.

The cast includes Scott Bakula as Dwayne “King” Cassius Pride, Lucas Black as Christopher LaSalle, Zoe McLellan as Meredith Brody, Rob Kerkovich as Sebastian Lund, CCH Pounder as Loretta Wade, Shalita Grant as Sonja Percy, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Patton Plame, Vanessa Ferlito as Tammy Gregorio, Necar Zadegan as Hannah Khoury, and more.

Why NCIS: New Orleans Season 8 isn’t happening

NCIS: New Orleans Season 8 isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, the series ended after seven seasons. ComingSoon will provide an update if the circumstances change.

The official synopsis for NCIS: New Orleans reads:

“A drama about the local field office that investigates criminal cases affecting military personnel in The Big Easy, a city known for its music, entertainment and decadence.”
