“NCIS: Origins ”has officially found its Mike Franks

Buckle up, NCIS fans. There’s a new cowboy in town.
Kyle Schmid has officially been cast as the younger version of special agent Michael “Mike” Franks in NCIS: Origins, CBS’ upcoming prequel series that is set to explore the early years of Mark Harmon's flagship character, Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
As NCIS fans know, Franks, played by Muse Watson, was not only the leader of the NCIS Major Case Response Team on the original series, but also instrumental in helping Gibbs on his journey to become a special agent. He was introduced during NCIS’ third season and went on to appear in several episodes over the years until season 18.

Kyle Schmid; Muse Watson as Mike Franks in 'NCIS'Franks younger self seems to be just as dedicated to his career as the leader of the newfound NCIS Camp Pendleton office. In a press release, Franks is described as a true born-and-raised Texan with a strong mustache and an even stronger will.
The news of Schmid’s casting comes just weeks after CBS revealed that Austin Stowell will star as Gibbs. NCIS: Origins, which is set in the 1990s, chronicles the beginning of Gibbs’ career as a special agent at the NCIS Camp Pendleton office under Franks’ tutelage.
Schmid is best known for his leading role in the military drama Six and for starring in the U.S. adaptation of the supernatural series Being Human and the ABC drama Big Sky.
