NC State football will face Tennessee in 2024 Duke’s Mayo Classic in Charlotte

The Charlotte Sports Foundation announced Tuesday that N.C. State will square off against Tennessee in the 2024 Duke’s Mayo Classic in Charlotte.

The Wolfpack and Vols will play the regular-season game on Sept. 7, 2024 at Bank of America Stadium, home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. Kickoff time and ticket information will be released at a later date.

“We are excited to participate in the 2024 Duke’s Mayo Classic,” N.C. State athletic director Boo Corrigan said in a statement. “This is an incredible opportunity for our football program to face a great SEC opponent in our home state.”

The Pack and Vols last played in 2012 in Atlanta, with Tennessee winning 35-21.

“We are thrilled to host a dynamic regional matchup that is within driving distance for these two passionate fan bases,” Danny Morrison, CSF’s executive director, said in a statement. “Tennessee and NC State have incredible ties to Charlotte and bringing them together to play in Bank of America Stadium is going to be an awesome experience.”

The Wolfpack played in the 2022 Duke’s Mayo Bowl in December, losing to Maryland 16-12. Tennessee faced West Virginia in Charlotte to start the season in 2018.
