Basketball’s most sought-after shooting coach Chris Matthews linked up with “Do the Right Thing” actor Giancarlo Esposito to recreate the iconic scene in which his character in the classic 1989 Spike Lee film gets his Jordans scuffed.

Heralded as one of the most famous sneaker moments in film history, the scene sees a Boston Celtics fan accidentally scuff Buggin’ Out’s (Esposito) clean White Cement 4s. Just as it goes down in the movie, the recreation sees Esposito rage at the bike-wielding scuffer, exclaiming, “Not only did you almost knock me down but you stepped on my brand new white Air Jordans that I just bought!”

The clip, which both Esposito and Matthews shared on their respective Instagrams, has Matthews acting as one of the guys who backs up Buggin’ Out during the confrontation. “35years later, Buggin Out still getting his Jordan’s scuffed!!🤣🤣🤣 Giancarlo Esposito is a living legend we don’t give his flowers to enough. We love you brother.👏🏾👏🏾,” the NBA shooting coach wrote alongside the video.

Sneakerheads have resonated with the scene for decades. So much that, in 2017, Jordan Brand paid homage to the unforgettable image of Buggin’ Out’s scuffed sneakers with a replica of the exact shoe worn in the movie. The special drop got all the details right, including the red, yellow and green detailing on the laces, and even came with a toothbrush Buggin’ Out uses to scrub off the stain. Today, the limited-edition shoe is hard to get your hands on.

Chris Matthews, who goes by LethalShooter on Instagram, has established himself as the most in-demand shooting coach out there, having worked with NBA players such as Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, Kyle Kuzma and Jaylen Brown. Matthews, who creates shooting videos and inspirational content on social media, has even helped rappers and actors improve their shot.
