NBA Issues Warning to Drake Over “Bad Language”: Report

The rapper exchanged words with the Cavs’ Kendrick Perkins at a playoff game

The NBA has issued a warning to the Toronto Raptors’ “Global AmbassadorDrake over “the use of bad language,” ESPN reports. He allegedly used foul language during a heated exchange with Cleveland Cavaliers’ Kendrick Perkins last night during Game 1 of the playoff series between the Raptors and Cavs.

While it’s unclear what exactly was said, Drake and Perkins were seen confronting each other two times during the game: at halftime and the end. In the clip below, Drake can be heard saying “I never said that shit.” A writer for the Toronto Star claimed to have heard Drake shout other obscenities at Perkins. Pitchfork has reached out to Drake’s representatives for comment.

Perkins told ESPN, “At the end of the day, it isn’t about Perk versus Drake; that doesn’t even sound right. It’s the Cleveland Cavaliers versus the Toronto Raptors. Besides, what could he possibly do to me? I mean, really. If he leaves me alone, I’ll leave him alone, and that’s all there is."

The Raptors regularly host “Drake Night” and Drake sits courtside at all home games. In 2016, he gave an impromptu performance outside the Air Canada Centre ahead of the Raptors’ game against the Indiana Pacers.
