Nature Novices Freak Out on Series Premiere of ‘Kicking & Screaming’

On the series premiere of Kicking & Screaming, 10 rugged survivalists were paired up with 10 divas. Another descriptor for them might be “indoor kids,” because when it came to roughing it, they were way out of their element, wielding machetes like they were handbags, nearly breaking legs getting out of a boat, and freaking out over frogs. It seemed that they needed to get more in touch with nature, but pulling sticks out of their butts from a rough night of sleep didn’t seem to help.

The contestants’ first challenge entailed grabbing a fish, and it was not prepackaged. Using her bare hands and her shrill screams, Nakeisha grabbed one, and she seemed more shocked about it than her partner.

While Ben and Juliana took the challenge’s prize of a night in a luxurious glamping tent, the rest of the contestants had less-than-stellar accommodations, going back to the forest floor. When Kirsten emerged from the woods with her eyes swollen shut, she had the look of someone who needed to get herself straight to a hospital, but she chose an EpiPen shot instead.

In the final elimination, Tamra and Maxwell took the win, and though Jessie and Mike were eliminated, Mike walked away with his head held high.

Kicking & Screaming airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on Fox.
