National Pizza Month: Here is what's happening several metro Detroit pizza spots

Aah ... the beloved pizza. Whether you like your pizza pies round or square, topped only with cheese or loaded with meat, thick or thin crust, pizza reigns supreme in the U.S.

PMQ Pizza Magazine's Pizza Power Report 2023 pegs the U.S. pizza market at nearly $47 billion.

And if you need a reason to enjoy some pizza, October is designated National Pizza Month.

The monthlong designation started in 1984 when an Indiana pizza shop owner started publishing a "Pizza Today" magazine, according to nationaltoday.com. Several metro Detroit pizza places are celebrating National Pizza Month and others are out with new offers.
